SOME residents of Emmanuel Street in the Egan area of Igando-Ikotun LCDA served justice with their hands to a wanted motorcycle thief by beating him to death in the early hours of Sunday, January 16, 2022.

According to information gathered by AlimoshoToday from eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 4 am on Sunday morning when the owner of a stolen motorcycle alerted other residents when he sighted his motorcycle and was in the possession of the alleged thief. The concerned residents caught up with the culprit as he and two other accomplices were trying to flee.

According to reports, the deceased fell off the bike during the chase while the other accomplices escaped. He was immediately accosted by the angry mob, tied to an electricity pole, strip naked, and eventually beaten to death.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, claimed that the deceased has been declared wanted in the area for a while in connection with other motorcycle theft.

Meanwhile, another eyewitness is of the opinion that he should have been handed over to the police for investigation on how to get his accomplices and recover the stolen motorcycle.

In his words; "I feel like, instead of jungle justice, he should have been handed over to the police so that they can catch the others and recover the stolen okada."

As of the time of filing this report, the police have been informed about the incident and the body of the deceased has since been removed from the scene of the incident.
