FLOODING: Akinsanya begins desilting of drains in Igando-Ikotun, warns against indiscriminate disposal of refuse

TO combat flood in the council area, the Council Mayor, Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde, has commenced desilting of drainages across the community while warning residents against the indiscriminate disposal of refuse into drainages.lagos-floods-alimosho-community-decries-impact-of-flooding-on-livelihood

Akinsanya noted that the desilting of drains and drainages must be done periodically to allow the free flow of flood water to the proper channels, adding that the flood and erosion challenges being experienced in some parts of the city are due to the indiscriminate disposal of waste in unauthorised places by some persons.

He further urged residents to desist from dumping refuse in unauthorised places as the Local Government will prosecute anyone caught in the act in line with extant environmental laws.
