THE Executive Chairman of the Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya has praised the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, as the Lagos State Government handed over 270 housing units (Cluster 1) to house owners in Egan, adding that the project commissioning will add to the economic, social, and political value of the council area.

"Mr Governor, Sir, by this commissioning, you have added immensely to the economic, social, and political value of our LCDA, hence, we are appreciative of you and your administration for your dedication and support always in view of your numerous projects in Igando-Ikotun LCDA in particular and Alimosho Federal Constituency in general," Akinsanya said during the commissioning last Thursday.

Meanwhile, while speaking during the commissioning, the State Governor, Sanwo-Olu said: "We are thrilled to finally break through the barriers that have held us back for so long with the delivery of the first cluster comprising 270 homes, today (Thursday), we will hand over keys to the original applicants (allottees), after a long delay."

He promised to complete the remaining second and third clusters before the end of his tenure.9780

While delivering his welcome address, the State Commissioner for Housing, Hon Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, said the commissioning was in fulfilment of Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s pledge to complete ongoing housing projects and the Ministry of Housing’s dedication to delivering this vital project despite challenges.

It will be recalled that the project, according to the State Government was conceived to provide decent accommodation for sub-urban dwellers. It was proposed to consist of 101 blocks of 846 home units made up of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.

The project was started by the Lagos State Ministry of Housing in 2001 with 33 blocks (18 in 1) of two (2) bedrooms. After a series of transfers to both public and private partnerships by the State Government in 2006, in the year 2016 the project was returned to the Ministry of Housing by the then Governor, His Excellency, Akinwunmi Ambode, and to speed up its completion, the Ministry divided the project into clusters.

The housing project has modern facilities like car parks, water treatment plants, electricity transformers, perimeter fences and gatehouses, GRD/Overhead water tanks, boreholes, water pump houses, road/drains, a Central sewage plant, and an electricity ingestion station.
