VETERAN music record producer, Olumide Ogunade, professionally known as ID Cabasa, has opened up on what transpired between him and Olamide in 2012 that made the rapper quit the record label.
Olamide broke into the mainstream in 2010 as an artist on ID Cabasa's Coded Tunez, dropping his breakout single 'Eni Duro,' in 2010 and his debut album 'Rhapsody' in 2011.
In 2012, Olamide quit Coded Tunez to create his record label, YBNL, which became one of the biggest decisions in his music career as the record label is now one of the biggest labels in Africa.
Speaking in an interview on the Afrobeats Podcast with host Adesope, ID Cabasa shared how pained he was when Olamide decided to leave the label to start YBNL.
“We sat down to discuss it, but it was painful to me...it was the pain of I love this guy," ID Cabasa shared.
"I said 'Olamide, you should have waited o,' and he told me that there are things he wanted to do but by my code, we might not be able to," Cabasa added.
Despite parting ways, both maintained a good relationship as Olamide is set to be the executive producer of ID Cabasa's forthcoming album.
