Don Jazzy used to sell Akara with mum in Ajegunle

The renowned producer opened up on his experience on how he had always wished that the big men who came to purchase Akara would be merciful and squeeze some money into his hands.

MUSIC producer and record label boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly called Don Jazzy, has disclosed a childhood experience of him selling bean cake (Akara) with his mum in Ajegunle.

The renowned producer opened up on his experience on how he had always wished that the big men who came to purchase Akara would be merciful and squeeze some money into his hands.

Speaking as a guest on the Zero Conditions podcast, the musical producer said: "I remember it like it was yesterday... I remember sitting down with my mum frying Akara there, sitting on the bench there in Ajegunle, and any big man that passes by with their Peugeot 504 or Mercedes 230 or whatever and they come to buy Akara.

“ I also remember the thought in my head, 'I wish this man would just look at me and go, young boy just take this, I know that you need it' or something like that."

The 40-year-old record label boss has been credited for bringing a host of talented artists to the limelight, which includes Rema, Ayra Starr, Boy Spyce, Ladipoe, Johnny Drille, Tiwa Savage, Dj Big N, Crayon, and many more.
