GRAMMY-nominated artist, David Adeleke aka Davido, has seen his fourth studio album, “Timeless,” make it to the Top 50 albums of 2023 by the Billboard Staff list.
The album, which was released on March 31, 2023, was ranked 39th and is the only African album on the list that contains critically acclaimed and highly successful albums from around the world.
The statement following the 39th place announcement read: “Before all the accolades - the Grammy nominations, the Headies Awards, the festival slots and the international tours - there was the music, and what Davido achieves on Timeless truly lives up to his acclaim.
“Whether it's joyous love songs like "In the Garden" with Morravey, Amapiano duets like the Asake-assisted "No Competition," driving dance hits like
"Kante" with Fave or Highlife odes to luxury like "Na Money" with The Cavemen and Angélique Kidjo - not to mention the crown jewel of the project, the Musa Keys collab "Unavailable" — Davido delivers one of the best bodies of work from this past year, and certainly the best of his career.
"Simply put, Timeless is a triumph and a landmark album in the global explosion of Afrobeats. - DAN RYS"
Ranked number one on the list is Olivia Rodrigo's album 'Guts,' which is in contention for the Album of the Year at the 2024 Grammys.
“Timeless” was also nominated for the Best Global Album at the 2024 Grammys, while tracks from the album 'Unavailable' feat Musa Keys and 'Feel' were nominated for Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance, respectively.
