NOLLYWOOD actor, Olanrewaju omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences.
Recall that the actor and movie producer was detained on April 22, 2021, after the Lagos State Police Command announced his arrest for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the care of Princess, a popular TV comedian..
After hours in court yesterday, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court sentenced the actor to prison despite pleading not guilty to all the counts.
Delivering the judgement, Justice Taiwo, who found the defendant guilty of two of the six counts against him, said that the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty of all the charges against him.
During the trial, six prosecution witnesses testified against Baba Ijesha. They were actress and comedienne, Princess, the 14-year-old minor, a child expert, Mrs Olabisi Ajayi-Kayode, medical doctor, Dr Aniekan Makanjuola, Investigating Police Officer, ASP Wahab Kareem, and a policewoman, Inspector Abigail Omane.
