THE wife of the Executive Chairman of the Alimosho Local Government Area, Mrs Kabirat Sulaimon, who is also the Director-General of the Caring Heart Foundation, has joined the students of Nistech College, Egbeda, to celebrate the International Day of Girl Child.

The celebration, which came in the form of a visit to the school, featured short inspirational talks, as well as the distribution of sanitary pads to the girls in the school.

The inspirational talk, which centred on the Year 2023 theme of the International Day of Girl Child, "Invest in Girls Right: Our Leadership, Our Well-being," emphasises the need for girls to take leadership roles wherever they find themselves.6096

Speaking during the visitation, Mrs Kabirat Sulaimon said: "Our time is now for girls everywhere to demand and secure their rights. The future, where equity, opportunities, and justice prevail, belongs to us all. We must ensure that every girl, regardless of background, enjoys the same opportunities and protection under the law as the males.”

She added that girls are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are leaders today. They also include the change-makers, innovators, and visionaries who will shape our world. As a result, their voices, their dreams, and their rights all matter.6094

She concluded by encouraging everyone, individuals and government, to commit themselves towards creating a world where every girl can access quality education and live free from violence and discrimination.

Also speaking at the visit is one of the major facilitators of the Caring Heart Foundation, Mrs Zaynab Hassan-Dindi, who emphasised the need for girls not to see themselves as less than males. She encouraged them to break all barriers and know that there is no limit to what they can achieve.
