FOLLOWING school resumption across the nation, administrators and proprietors of primary schools are experiencing a low turn-out of pupils because of financial implications and the COVID-19 scare amidst other reasons.

The Human Resource Manager of Tots Up School, Mrs. Adewale Omolara, while speaking with AlimoshoToday revealed that the pupils and teachers are happy to be back in school, but noted a few challenges.

"It's quite unfortunate that there is low attendance of pupils. The attendance is not encouraging and it is even demoralising to the teachers. We just have to start from somewhere.

"We realised that some parents are still fearful and do not want to release their kids. They want to know the preventive measures we've put in place, which we disseminated already via various means and platforms.

"We understand that COVID-19 scare is still rampant; hence, their reluctance. Some even called that they wanted to sit back this week and get feedbacks before releasing their wards," she said.

She also noted that some parents are still relaxed and could not meet up with preparing their wards in time for the school bus.

Recounting some challenges faced on resumption back to school, the proprietress of De Vasco Schools, Mrs. Akinola told AlimoshoToday:" Few of the pupils resumed. Some parents are saying their wards would resume in January because they are defaulting in last term's payment and we cannot totally blame them because some lost their jobs and got their salaries slashed.

"We know that this term is going to be a very tedious term but we are going to thrive."
