THE Executive Chairman of the Alimosho LGA, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon has celebrated the residents of the LGA as Nigeria celebrates the Year 2024 Democracy Day anniversary.

Jelili’s Democracy Day message to the residents on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, read: “Dear Alimosho residents, today, we commemorate a pivotal moment in our nation's history, June 12. It is a day that holds great symbolism for all of us, as it marks the struggle for democracy and freedom in our beloved country.

“As we reflect on the events of June 12, 1993, we remember the courage and resilience of the Nigerian people who stood up against dictatorship and oppression. We remember the sacrifices made by those who fought for the right to choose their leaders through free and fair elections.

“On this day, we also pay tribute to Chief MKO Abiola, the winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election. His unwavering commitment to democracy and the will of the people serves as an inspiration to us all. Let us remember his legacy and continue to strive for a Nigeria where the voices of the people are heard and respected.
