In her address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Hon. Bolaji Dada stated that women are important to the development of our country and without women, no nation can exist. She added that she and every female stakeholder have taken it as a responsibility to protest bias against women and continue to encourage the inclusion of females in governance.

In her contribution, the Chairperson of Alimosho LGA, Hajia Kabirat Sulaimon, said "According to Malala Yousafzai, there was a time when women activists asked men to stand up for their rights but this time we will do it ourselves.

"In the past, so many women were silenced by situations they can’t control due to lack of useful knowledge and inferiority complex. Many women, especially in Africa, were forced to do the untold and died in the process.

"What changed? We realised the need to speak out and this has now been reaping lots of benefits. Today, what women experience is a serious case of bias at the workplace, in society, in business, and in leadership.

"This bias is so much that a woman can't even wear what she likes. In another statement of Malala Yousafzai, "I believe it's a woman's right to decide what she wants to wear. If a woman can go to the beach and wear nothing, then why can't she wear everything?"

She concluded that both men and women have a role to play in ensuring a peaceful and successful society.
