A 35-year-old man, Olabunkanmi Oladimeji, has been arrested at Akinwowo Street, Egbeda in the Egbeda-Akowonjo LCDA of Alimosho LGA, for forcefully caressing a 16-year-old girl, to achieve sexual satisfaction before he was caught in the act.
According to media reports, Oladimeji was alleged to have removed her skirt and pants as well as removed his own trouser in order to forcefully have sex with her before he was caught.
The matter was reported to the Police at the Ipaja Division and he was arrested and detained for interrogation over his conduct. After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for statutory rape.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, SP Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the victim is still a minor.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs B.O Osunsanmi, thereafter ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was then adjourned till March 16, 2023, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
