IN a bid to show a visionary impact on community development, Hon. Rabiu Kazeem, the Chairman of the Egbe-Idimu LCDA Community Development Committee (CDC) and Welfare Secretary to the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council, has orchestrated a remarkable transformation in the LCDA.

Alimoshotoday gathered that the recent Community Health Programme, held on December 5, 2023, in collaboration with the Eye Foundation Hospital, emerged as a resounding success, leaving an enduring impact on the community.

In a notable feat, 15 out of the 21 identified cataract patients underwent life-changing surgeries at the Eye Foundation Hospital, Ikeja, sponsored by the Relief for Human Suffering (R4HS) Foundation. Each surgery, valued at #750,000, was provided free of charge to the residents of Egbe/Idimu LCDA.

The programme screened 153 participants with notable conditions addressed, including allergy (eight), Pterygium (four), Susp disc (six), glaucoma (17), cataract (21), ELO (10), Presbyopia (47), refractive errors (26), dry eye (six), NAD (one), and others (seven).

Interventions at the outreach include readers (78), eye drops (14), referrals for registration (31), referrals for refractive services (36), and 7GV glasses dispensed.

The free surgeries not only addressed a pressing health issue but also instilled a profound sense of community support and care. The legacy of this initiative will endure as a symbol of what can be achieved when visionary leadership, community engagement, and philanthropic support converge.
