NURTW leader beats up bus driver at Idimu

A suspected leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) beat up a commercial bus driver for reluctance in paying up the ticket levies.

A suspected leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) beat up a commercial bus driver for reluctance in paying up the ticket levies.

The driver's bus conductor had been initially confronted by another NURTW worker in uniform for the sum of N2OO but he pleaded to be allowed to pay on returning from his first trip. The pleas fell on deaf ears and he opened the boot of the bus, opened the cover of the engine and made away with it.

The drama was quite peaceful initially as the junior officer was trying to make the conductor oblige him until the NURTW leader emerged furiously from his corner in his blue native attire, approached the driver and punched him twice in the chest.

A small crowd gathered who joined the public transport operators for further appeals on injuries with two hands raised up. "Twale Baba!"
