The Permanent Secretary/Auditor-General for Local Governments, Mrs Adesumbo Abolarin, on Tuesday visited the Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), some Local Governments and other LCDAs that were vandalised and burnt by hoodlums in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests.

Gbenga Omotosho, the Commisioner for Information and Strategy made this known in a statement.

Alimosho Today had reported that armed hoodlums attacked the Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat in Alimosho Local Government, looting offices and stores.

Speaking during the visit, according to Omotosho, Mrs Abolarin disclosed that her visit was for on-the-spot assessment of the destruction of Council properties across Lagos State as well as to commiserate with the management of affected Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas.

She condemned the act of the hoodlums and arsonists, describing it as the most barbaric and uncivilised conduct anyone could think of, particularly when the State Government and the respective Local Governments are at the forefront of service delivery to the citizenry.

While informing that all the affected Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas are presently grappling with operational difficulties caused by the wanton destruction, the Permanent Secretary urged the Executive, Management and Staff to protect other critical assets while continuing to deliver more services to the people regardless of the temporary setback.

Some of the Local Governments and LCDAs visited include Egbe-Idimu, Ojodu, Ejigbo, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Ibeju-Lekki, Ajeromi Ifelodun, Eti-Osa, Lagos Island East, Apapa and Iganmu.
