THE Egbe Idimu LCDA, alongside the Director of the Post Service Department in the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Mr Irewole Ogunsakin, who was represented by Ms Omowunmi Orija, has held a celebration in honour of the council retirees and an end-of-year Thanksgiving service.
The Mayor of the LCDA, Hon. Kunle Sanyaolu Olowoopejo, in his keynote address, appreciated God for sparing the lives of everyone, especially the retirees, adding that the retirees would not retire into sickness or death.
On his part, the Director, through his representative, enjoined the staff to see their first day of appointment as manufacturing dates and the last day as expiry day. He advised that the preparation for retirement should start from the first day of their service. He then prayed for sound health and longevity for all of them.
The Council Manager, Mr Omotayo Shakirudeen, while giving the welcome address stressed modest celebration during the Yuletide period. He prayed for a healthy retirement for the retirees, stressing that it is a day that would come to pass in the life of all civil servants, noting that one shouldn't dread the glorious day, but be adequately prepared.
