Court strikes out case against pure water seller lured into having sex with business man’s wife in Idimu

CHIDI John, a 45-year-old pure water seller has landed in trouble after he went to supply pure water to a top businessman’s wife and was said to have been lured into a sex romp by the woman.

According to media reports, the incident happened at Rasheed Balogun Street, Isheri-Olofin area of Egbe-Idimu LCDA in Alimosho, where John went to supply pure water to Mrs Chika Udeh.

After the husband got the information about the dastardly act, the wife then confessed that she and the pure water seller had been having sex from August 2020 till October 2020, within the period she engaged him to supply pure water to the family.

The husband then went to the Idimu Police Division and reported that John raped his wife in his matrimonial home and demanded #5m from John as compensation.

In a statement to the Police, Mrs Chika said that she asked Mr John to be supplying them with pure water and whenever he supplied, he would lure her into sex but she did not tell her husband and that it had happened several times before her husband knew about it.

While John, in his own statement, told the Police that he met Mrs Udeh in a bar and she requested that he should be supplying her with pure water, which he was doing. But whenever he went to supply the water, he would have sex with her before she will pay him.

He also confessed that he had done it on several occasions and did not know she was a married woman because at the initial stage when he met her, she told him that she was a single mother.

However, the Police found John culpable for engaging in the act on the couple's matrimonial bed and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause a breach of the public peace, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, SP Benedict Aigbokhan, then told the Court that it was a case of rape as claimed by the complainant and asked the Court that the charges be amended in the next adjournment.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs K.A. Ariyo, granted John bail and directed the prosecutor to amend the charge on the next adjourned date slated for October 10, 2022.

On the adjourned date, however, the matter was cancelled as the complainants told the Court that they were no longer interested in the matter and the pure water seller was set free.
