LASUBEB, HDI organise stakeholders' forum

LASUBEB, HDI ORGANISE STAKEHOLDERS' FORUM

THE Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, LASUBEB, in partnership with a Non-Governmental Organisation, Human Development Initiative (HDI), has organised a stakeholders’ forum tagged “A Day Out with Lagos SUBEB" held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Maryland, Ikeja.

The Executive Chairman, LASUBEB, Mr Wahab Alawiye-King, said the Board has been able to transform the Basic Education sector with the EKOEXCEL initiative of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu by infusing technology in the pedagogy and digitalisation of processes.

He added that LASUBEB is working assiduously to improve teachers' skills through capacity building to meet the current trends of education globally and also improve learning outcomes.

Alawiye-King disclosed that the Board had introduced a remote blended learning approach comprising of Interactive Radio Instruction, a Television Lesson (Classroom in Your Home) and Take Home quizzes to bridge the learning loss as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While seeking for collaboration of the organised private sector, he stated that the Board, in partnership with private bodies, has provided back to school packages to over 12,000 out of school children to return back to school, under the project zero initiative of the Board.

Mrs Olufunso Owasanoye, Executive Director of HDI, said that her foundation collaborated with LASUBEB to organise the stakeholders’ engagement, promote transparency and accountability in the education system as well as create awareness for the populace on the activities of the Board and its achievements.

She applauded the Board for improving basic education in the State, urging them to put in more efforts on providing infrastructures in Public Primary Schools.

The engagement, held with the LASUBEB Board to understand its activities, achievements and educational transformation plans for basic education in the State, had in attendance Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders, Community-Based Organisations, School Based Management Committees, Nigerian Union of Teachers, Civil Society Organisations and Members of the Press among others.
