INNER Wheel District 912 Assisted Project in conjunction with Inner Wheel Clubs of Ogba, Akowonjo and Shogunle, have organised a two-month Free Adult Literacy Class for women.

The Chairman, Inner Wheel District 912, Ronke Solomon, while speaking at the flag-off ceremony which held at Agege Local Government, Stadium Bustop, Lagos, noted that the programme was organised for women with no education.

She said this was after discovering that a lot of them are involved in buying and selling and don’t know simple calculation.

She said: “Literacy is the foundation for learning, it carries benefits running from the deeply personal to the political, social and economic spheres of life. Increasingly, studies describe how literacy acquisition improves an individual’s self-esteem and confidence.”

Solomon, therefore, enjoined participants to avail themselves of the opportunity.

The project according to the Past District Chairman (PDC), Gbemisola Rufai, can only accommodate 30 participants in order to comply with the COVID-19 protocols.

She also said that ”the zeal and the eagerness is written all over them, what they were not opportune to learn in their youthful days, they can now do it and have that sense of belonging.”

The project is being implemented in all the 26 Clubs under District 912 in Ogun and Lagos States respectively.
