Tinubu sacks NBC DG, NAN MD, NTA DG, 5 others; makes fresh appointments

THE President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu, has sacked the Heads of some Government Agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation with immediate effect.

This development was disclosed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media Publicity, in a statement on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

The Agencies affected include the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the Voice of Nigeria (VON), the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and the Nigerian Press Council (NPC).

Meanwhile, the President has made new appointments to replace the sacked Heads, the newly appointed Heads include Director-General/CEO of NOA, Mr Lanre Issa-Onilu; Director-General/CEO of NTA, Mr Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos; Director-General/CEO of FRCN, — Dr Muhammed Bulama; Director-General/ CEO of NBC, — Mr Charles Ebuebu; and Director-General/CEO of VON, Mr Jibrin Baba Ndace.

Others include Director-General/CEO of ARCON, Dr Lekan Fadolapo; Managing Director/CEO of NAN, Mr Ali Muhammed Ali; and Executive Secretary/CEO of NPC, Mr Dili Ezughah.

The President has tasked the newly entrusted leadership in these sub-sectors to “innovate and create new opportunities for Nigerians to leverage upon through the effective reform of these key institutions of Government, which function to unify Nigerians, reshape mindsets, and showcase the nation to the rest of the world.”

It is worth noting that by the directive of the President, the appointments take immediate effect.
