THE Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been elected as the Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum.
According to media reports, Sanwo-Olu’s election took place during a closed-door meeting held at the State House, Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, which was attended by all six Governors from the South West states.
He succeeded the late Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who served as the forum’s Chairman until his passing on December 27, 2023.
Apart from Sanwo-Olu, five other Governors, including Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), and Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) attended the meeting at the Lagos House, Ikeja.
After the closed-door meeting, which lasted for about five hours, the Forum released a communique on the Governors’ resolution on some national and regional issues.
The Forum explained that Sanwo-Olu was “unanimously nominated and adopted as its Chairman.”
