The Deputy Governor stated one of the things that were missing in recent times is the ability for people to share their experiences and thoughts in life, adding that a lot of people have done great things in life, and such great things should be written for posterity and others should learn from and emulate.

Hamzat urges Nigerians to share thoughts, experiences through books

THE Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has stressed the need for Nigerians to have the ability to process information and their thoughts, views and experiences through books and to be courageous for the good and development of society.

Hamzat gave the advice at the 10th anniversary of Morayo Afolabi-Brown on TV and the launch of her book titled "Becoming the Queen of Talk TV" held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the Harbour Point Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

"We amplify the worst things in our lives in Nigeria, but we should also amplify good things when they are done and should be documented,” he said.

Kadri Obafemi applauded the author on how she had sustained her show for 10 years and not necessarily streamlining it on a particular category but spreading it to gather different views and angles to make it enjoyable to all.

While congratulating and commending her for her ability and accomplishment for putting her thoughts together, Hamzat advised the Nigerian youth to follow her by being humble despite their successes, declaring that success does not mean a lack of modesty, as both virtues co-habits.

“I just hope that others can follow in her footsteps and understand that success does not mean lack of humility because you must combine humility with success”, he added.

Kadri Obafemi went further to extol some of the traits that have endeared her to a great number of people in the decade, saying the celebrant is well-mannered, cultural, and respectful which propelled her into the limelight.

The former Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, earlier in her remarks, described the author as a kind, strong, compassionate and beautiful woman, who through her show, has given women in the country a voice.

Mrs Folasade said Morayo Afolabi-Brown, from her childhood, has exhibited great leadership skills, compassion, and intelligence, which has made her what she is today.
