CASH SCARCITY: Angry man smashes UBA glass over inability to withdraw cash in Dopemu

A 23-year-old man, Ezekiel Olamilekan, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he went to a UBA branch in the Mulero area of Dopemu to withdraw money, was unable to do so, and in anger, he smashed the full front glass of the bank.

According to media reports, after his arrest, a thorough interrogation, and being found culpable, he was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and malicious damage, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty by the Court, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Police prosecutor, Inspector Olusegun Kokoye, told the Court that the defendant, along with others at large, maliciously damaged the full front glass of UBA, Mulero branch.

Kokoye stated that the value of the said property was yet to be ascertained and the offence the defendant allegedly committed was punishable under Sections 411 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Sakirat Obasa, granted the defendant bail to the tune of #100,000 and two reliable sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of a means of livelihood.

The matter was adjourned till March 20, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
