AFTER the further easing of the COVID-19 lockdown, schools across the nation were allowed to reopen on Monday, September 21, 2020, to the exclusion of pupils in pre-primary classes and this was the basis of reactions gathered by AlimoshoToday.

A woman who pleaded anonymity told AlimoshoToday that she is excited schools have reopened, but pupils in preschool should also be allowed to resume, too. "I am glad schools reopened already. Most of these children couldn't read again.

"Preschool should be opened too. One of the children in my yard cannot read ABC again. We had to take them to home coaching so that they won't forget what they were taught. We learnt they will resume soon too, they should not change it o. I like it that way. I beg the government to release all of them to go back to school," she pleaded.

A barber who was also asked how he feels regarding schools reopening told AlimoshoToday: "I just want the private schools to ensure precautionary measures are put in place-like sanitisers, physical distancing in classrooms and so on.

"Initially, I learnt that only JSS 3 and SS3 students resumed class, but I wanted all the classes to resume. This is because the intelligence quotient of most students is reducing because the holiday was too long. The habit of learning is no longer there because the students want to play. I'm glad schools have reopened fully, but preventive measures must be put in place and strictly enforced."

In response to AlimoshoToday's question, Mrs Odebowale Toyin said: "I'm glad the students resumed. We were not gaining anything from them staying at home. They were constituting a nuisance around. I just want the government to ensure that the schools are complying with the COVID-19 guidelines. It is really good that they've resumed."

The Human Resource Manager of Tots Up School, Mrs Adewale Omolara, told AlimoshoToday: "Our preschool kids are still at home, we are missing them. Even the kids are crying that they want to come back to school but we cannot help the situation. We have to follow the government's directives."
