WOGEFI holds IDGC Conference, hosts hundreds of school girls

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) set up to provide empowerment for women and girls in Lagos State and beyond, the Women and Girls Empowerment Foundation International (WOGEFI) on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, held its International Day of the Girl Child conference with the theme, 'Digital Generation, Our Generation.

The event saw hundreds of secondary school girls and other young ladies mentored on how to set attainable goals, irrespective of their gender.

Convener of the summit and a Senior Lecturer at the English Department, Lagos State University (LASU), Dr Olawunmi Oni-Buraimoh, called on girls to explore greater opportunities within and beyond their area of study, and not restrict themselves to what many have termed the ‘male profession', especially in the digital sector.

The gathering, which was held at the D'Great Physician Multipurpose Hall, beside Limca Bus stop, Badagry, featured talks by seasoned professionals in different sectors, interactive sessions between the facilitators and participants, and fun games.

Speakers at the event include the founder of WOGEFI, Dr Olawunmi Oni-Buraimoh, Executive Assistant, HP Africa Central and East, Josephine Kolawole, and a Law lecturer at the Lagos State University’s Faculty of Law, Barr. Selome Ashimi.

The Programme was supported by OraCare+, Manny Asika, Oni Communications, SJ Arise and Shine Service, and the leading community-based news platform, Alimoshotoday.com.
