THE Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has commissioned a new Passport Front Desk office, facilitated by the Federal Government, in the Egbeda-Akowonjo LCDA of Alimosho LGA as part of the FG’s strategy to make passport administration a seamless exercise for Nigerians.
While speaking at the commissioning of the Front Desk Office at Sobo bus stop, Akowonjo road, Alimosho on Monday, January 30, 2023, Ogbeni Aregbesola stated that the development is aimed at easing the ever-increasing pressure on the three existing Passport Control Offices in Lagos.
He also revealed that the NIS is working hard to increase its capacity to cope with the high demand for Passports, in spite of the challenges faced.
Aregbesola then explained that the office is mainly for passport application, collection of biometric data, and eventual issuance, and not for passport production.
He also stressed the inevitability of the emergence of private partners to provide spaces for more front offices in Lagos, due to the funding challenges faced by the government, as this will reduce the application waiting period to one week.
Present at the commissioning is the community and political leaders in Alimosho, APC party candidates, and residents of the Alimisho LGA.
