THE Awori Progressives Assembly, an assemblage of the indigenes of Lagos State, has thrown its weight behind the All Progressives Congress and its candidates, from the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the re-election bid of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and all other candidates of the party.
While speaking during the meeting, an APC party Chieftain, Hon. Monsuru Oloyede Bello-Obe said; "This endorsement is in recognition of the developmental strides that the ruling political party, APC, in Lagos State has brought to the Centre of Excellence over time.
“Moreso, this is the first time in the history of the state when any Progressives party has considered our own stock as Party Chairman. The choice of our leader, Hon. (Pastor) Cornelius Ojelabi for the first position in the party structure is a welcomed one. Some of us have also been presented as candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly.
"We have the conviction that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the presidential election slated for February 25, if we come together and work as a team. Lagos can lead the nation for the first time. We should not relent until success is achieved and this we should replicate during the March 11, Governorship & State Assembly election."
On his part, the candidate of the party in Alimosho constituency 01, Hon. Luqman Olatunji Orelope, said, "Asiwaju is the only presidential candidate with track records amongst all of them. Others are just flouting - 'I will, I will', but the situation on the ground and the man that Nigerians need currently is a man with the mantra - 'I have done, I did'. Interestingly, the only man amongst the long list of presidential candidates with that mantra is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu."
While urging the attendees to canvass massively for all APC candidates both at the Federal and State levels, the Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Adelaja stated, "This election is actually a time for us to prove that we are Lagosians and we must do within our means, legally, to ensure the presidency comes to Lagos. This is our time."
