Aregbesola in Alimosho to campaign for Sanwo-Olu

THE Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on Sunday, March 12, 2023, converged with Alimosho APC stakeholders at his Ikeja residence to campaign for the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

This move is coming days after the declaration of Bola Tinubu as the President-elect. Before this time, there has been a seeming rift between Aregbesola and Tinubu after they fell out due to an undisclosed issue.

Recall that in February 2022, Alimosho APC party members had performed a mock-up last burial rites, complete with coffin bonfires and burial polos, signalling the end of Aregbesola's political reign in Alimosho.

The ‘burial ceremony’ featured chants proclaiming Aregbesola as a betrayer that can never be forgiven in Alimosho.

However, in what seems to be a return to his one-time territory, Aregbesola was seen addressing a group of people in the video circulating on social media.

The former Governor of Osun State canvassed support for Governor Sanwo-Olu, urging the people to forget all grievances and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the gubernatorial election coming up on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Also recall that the APC had lost out in the February 25 general elections in Alimosho LGA, after the LGA failed to secure majority votes for Tinubu.

This may have attributed to internal wranglings in the party which stakeholders are struggling to resolve ahead of March 18.
