Kehinde Joseph celebrates International Day of Education

IN commemoration of this year's International Day of Education, the Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Alimosho Constituency II, Hon. Kehinde Olaide Joseph, has charged parents and guardians to invest in knowledge, ignite curiosity, and pave the way for a brighter, more enlightened future, because every mind holds the potential for positive change, and education is the key that unlocks it.

While joining the world to celebrate the Year 2024 International Day of Education on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, the lawmaker wrote: "Today's (yesterday) commemoration of the International Day of Education gives us another opportunity to appreciate the impact of education on global development. Education is, unarguably, any society's key to so many great opportunities. It unlocks development and builds the foundation of a society's posterity.

“In Lagos State, we do not only see basic, quality, and affordable education as the fundamental right of every child. We have gone a step further to implement it to the latter. Thankfully, our free education programme has cut down the figures of out-of-school children and upped our national literacy ranking indices. Our target does not end there. Over the past few months, our education sector has recorded incredible progress because we are determined to see massive results. Our schools have become a national brand. Our students are bringing home laurels.

“In the 2024 Budget, the Lagos State Government has allocated a significant huge sum of billions of naira to our education sector. The intention is to improve existing structures and kickstart other strategic policies that will eventually make our education system the best in the country. As soon as possible, another recruitment is coming up - to complement previous recruitments, to completely bring to an end the era of classrooms without teachers.

“As a lover of education, I understand first-hand the importance of education and the indispensable role that teachers play in making it great and adorable. I also celebrate every hard-working teacher out there who is wearing the honourable badge proudly. We can never underestimate your sacrifices. Without you, education would have been defeated, and our society would have been in total darkness.

“Thank you, and happy International Day of Education to you all. Alasepe Lol'orun Wa!"
