For how long will Alimosho continue to accommodate these monsters?

IN 2022, the Lagos State Government announced that the state recorded 4,860 reported cases of domestic violence, rape, and sexual assaults with Alimosho LGA, and four others, accounting for the highest number of reported cases.

Alimosho, Ikorodu, Kosofe, Eti- Osa, and Oshodi accounted for the top five volatile Local Government Areas (LGAs) for cases involving adults, while Alimosho, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Ikorodu and Ifako-Ijaiye were the top five volatile Local Government Areas (LGAs) for cases involving children, respectively.

There were 2,029 domestic violence cases, 65 rape cases, 40 sexual assault cases, 10 attempts to commit rape, five sexual assaults by penetration, 73 threats to life, and 488 other sundry cases such as separation, and neglect, among others.

Sadly, the cycle may repeat itself this year. Within the last 2 months, the media has been awash with numerous reports of such nature coming from Alimosho. This does not speak well of us and some measures would have to be taken to address these fierce societal monsters.

The state and local government, including our various community Chiefs, should put in place various measures to nip this menace in the bud. It's very important for us all to make Alimosho a safer place to nurture promising kids, especially our female children, hence this 'insanity' must be taken seriously and addressed.

Alimosho is a very valuable catalyst to the progress of Lagos State and her people and such condemnable acts should never be allowed to thrive therein.
