Despite threats and a campaign of calumny against him, GRV has continued to enjoy widespread support and endorsements, even from leaders of opposition parties.

IT is now six days to the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Lagos State when Lagosians will throng in their numbers to the polls to elect their leaders for the next four years.

The Labour Party and its supporters seem to be in high spirits, as time and time again, their Governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour a.k.a Chinedu (as his detractors have now branded him) has continued to enjoy widespread support and endorsements, even from leaders of opposition parties.

The morale of the party seems to have been boosted after the outcome of February 25, 2023, general elections shot them to victory, to the shock of many who would have ordinarily thought the Labour Party stood no chance against the ruling All Progressives Congress party in Lagos State.

There were allegations that he was given an offer of #20 billion to drop his ambition, and the LP candidate turned down the offer.

Recently, members of Omo Eko Pataki consisting of Chief Olabode George; former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Senator Kofoworaola Bucknor-Akerele; and Mrs Onikepo Oshodi, endorsed Rhodes-Vivour, saying it is time for renewal and rebirth in Lagos State.

In February, the Governorship candidate of Boot Party, Wale Oluwo, stepped down for Rhodes-Vivour, pledging his commitment to GRV’s emergence.

In a March 11 post by Daily Post captioned, "My First 100 Days as Governor of Lagos - GRV," the candidate of the Labour Party said, among other things, that on his first day in office, salaries of civil servants will be increased by 100 per cent.

One cannot also forget to mention the massive Obidient followership who are solidly behind him. With all this, will his labour be in vain?

Rhodes-Vivour's popularity will be tested come March 18, 2023, when he would be up against two top contenders; APC's Babajide Sanwo-Olu and PDP's Abdul-Azeez Adediran.
