BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU: Are you really prepared for March 11?

If those who voted for the Labour Party on February 25 decide to back Rhodes-Vivour, Sanwo-Olu's chances are slim despite the incumbency factor.

THE game is on! The political fireworks are in the air! Meetings upon meetings, negotiations upon negotiations, reinforcement of support... All is getting set for the March 11, 2023, Guber and state assembly elections.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be up against front runners of the Labour Party (Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour) and PDP (Olajide Adediran).

Saturday's elections surely shook the foundations and structure of the Lagos APC. Who would have believed that Obi could've won Lagos, not to talk of an APC stronghold - Alimosho LGA?

This victory of the Labour Party could have been the reason the National Youth Leader of the APC, Hon. Dayo Israel issued a subtle threat to all party leaders in Lagos State to deliver their wards for the reelection of Sanwo-Olu.

“Any appointee in Lagos who doesn’t deliver his ward on the 11th March should not bother coming to Alausa on the 13th. Everyone should drop their tinted car and start walking the street. Knock on your neighbours door, beg those you need to beg, make peace. Deliver for #Sanwoolu.”

On Saturday, February 25, 2023, the Labour Party won in Ojo, Eti-Osa, Amuwo Odofin, Ikeja, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, and Somolu. This victory no doubt poses a threat to the APC as the population from these LGAs surpasses those in other areas.

A new twist to this came up when yesterday, Thursday, March 2, 2023, the Governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), confirmed talks with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The LP candidate told his supporters in the Lekki area of Lagos that discussing with the PDP became necessary to forge a common front against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship contest next week.

If this scales through as planned, Sanwo-Olu risks losing his seat and must close ranks now to ensure he does not become a 'One-term Governor.'
