ALIMOSHOFC Ladies, the foremost local female football club based in Alimosho has made the Alimosho community proud as they pertook in the global football tournament held in Qatar in May 2022.
The football tournament, tagged Red bull Neymar Jnr's Five, had other female clubs from other countries in participation, including Brazil and Netherlands.
AlimoshoFC Ladies launched out with a 4-1 victory against the 'babes' from Netherlands. Brazil was on ground with two teams for the AlimoshoFC Ladies to contend with.
The first Brazilian team unfortunately earned a 2-0 victory as they defeated the AlimoshoFC Ladies. Perhaps provoked, the AlimoshoFC Ladies went ahead fiercely for revenge as they locked a 1-1 draw match with the second Brazilian team.
Although AlimoshoFC Ladies eventually bowed out the tournament, the need to celebrate them cannot be underestimated. Firstly, the team did not go to Qatar with all her machineries and we have the poor support for sports in the Nigerian state to blame for that.
Reports passed to Alimoshotoday by Teslim Sanni, the club's manager, revealed that the only support available for the girls came from Red bull, which took care of the travel expenses, including feeding and accomodation in Qatar. Also, most of the players who could have helped bring home the trophy were denied visa to travel despite the acceptable purpose.
We are proud of these beautiful die-hard girls who have passion for what they do and who remain patriotic to the country despite all odds. It's not about the winning. It's about getting it done!
