THE Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Alimosho Constituency II, Hon. Kehinde Olaide Joseph, has hailed Nigeria's team, Super Eagles for their performance at the just concluded 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d'Ivoire.

The State Lawmaker, while paying tributes to the Super Eagles of Nigeria during Monday's Plenary Session of the House, said the Super Eagles of Nigeria, despite losing at the final of the AFCON to the host nation, Cote d'Ivoire, deserved applause for their fantastic performance in the competition.

He reiterated that the Super Eagles fought vigorously to attain the final stage of the Africa Cup of Nations by defeating their opponents, noting that the participation of the team in the final on Sunday is a testament to the determination, resilience, and commitment of the Super Eagles to the competition.8546

He, however, called on Nigerians who have looked forward to Nigeria winning the AFCON Cup for the fourth time not to be discouraged by the outcome of the match against the Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire.

"Even in defeat, the Eagles’ wings remain unbroken; meaning all lovers of football across our nation should not allow Sunday’s defeat of the Super Eagles at the AFCON final to affect our love for our national team,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Account (State), who is also a Member of the House Committee on Security, has called on the State Government to place a high premium on the security of lives and properties in Lagos.

According to him, "There cannot be development or growth in any society where the security of lives and properties are not guaranteed, so, the need for the State Government to do everything possible to ensure that the provision of security of lives and properties remain a fundamental responsibility."

The grassroot Lawmaker also stressed the need to involve a greater percentage of youths in addressing security challenges to ensure a safer and secure environment.

"The youths are known for their strength and energetic presence anywhere they are, and engaging them positively as the future of this nation, will make the work of PCRC and other Stakeholders easier,” he noted.

He also added that the youths are technologically savvy and can bring their knowledge to bear in the area of infrastructural security, which will further change the narrative of security in Lagos State and Nigeria.
