A student of Abesan Senior High School, Ipaja in the Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA of Alimosho LGA, Wisdom Nwomuma has emerged victorious at the recent grand finale of the 2022 secondary schools essay competition and prize-giving ceremony held at LCCI Auditorium, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Dr Michael Olawale Cole, while speaking said that reinvigorating the reading culture among students, “will act as a catalyst for their national development and lifelong learning."

The event themed, ‘The Role of FinTech in Shaping Entrepreneurship for National Development,’ according to Cole, was designed to help the average Nigerian child to understand as well as interrogate their intellectual lives, to stimulate their entrepreneurial instincts to enhance their contributions to national development.

“In this edition, invitations were sent to over 250 schools of which 52 schools fully participated in this year’s competition. We are gathered here today to celebrate the hard work and successes of our students from these schools,” he said.

Commending stakeholders in the essay competition for ensuring that standards were maintained, Dr Olawale Cole decried the Japa syndrome among Nigerians and urged the “Youths not to lose hope in Nigeria as they have no other country to call their own.”
