AlimoshoToday inducts LASUSOC students into its 6 months internship programme

Earlier, AlimoshoToday had reported that the Lagos State University School of Communications (LASUSOC) has approved AlimoshoToday.com as an industrial attachment hub for its Journalism students.

The induction which took place at AlimoshoToday's office in Egbeda had in attendance nine LASUSOC students; the Publisher of AlimoshoToday, Mr Dupe Akinola; the Deputy Editor of AlimoshoToday, Ms Josephine Kolawole and the Site Administrator/ Administrative Manager, Ms Adedamola Oni.

During the induction, the students were introduced to the company and staff, practicalities of Community journalism, the benefits of the internship and what is expected of them to successfully be awarded a Certificate of completion at the end of the programme.

Halfway into the induction, a virtual meeting held between the Chief Strategist Officer (COO) of Village Media, Mr David Turkstra and the new interns. He formally introduced them to the Village Media 'family' and enlightened them on what Community journalism entails.

David was asked a few question by the interns and he took his time to respond to all the questions asked. He wished them well and they bade their farewells.

The Publisher of AlimoshoToday made it known to the inductees that: “This is a place of discipline, we won’t tolerate any form of laziness or distractions”. He said AlimoshoToday is a 'big family' where people work and enjoy while at it, but no act of indiscipline will be tolerated. Thereby, a lady who was absent without prior notice was excused from the internship, to serve as a deterrent to others.

Furthermore, interns were promised a letter of appointment for their internship. The Publisher further said: “You can bring your IT letter here once it’s ready and you shall be accepted. After school, this should be the first place your CV should be submitted to procure a job".

The LASUSOC students sounded excited and pleased with their internship placement. And before the induction was brought to a close, they were divided into different groups and assigned various tasks.

One of the interns, Samuel Akintunde said, “it is a good opportunity for me as a student to learn the practical aspect of journalism here”.
