Recall that on Thursday, March 14, 2024, cuts to the undersea cable supplying broadband Internet connectivity to Nigeria and countries in the West African sub-region forced many banks, financial institutions, telecom companies, and allied firms to scale down their operations.

This is the first time since March 5, 2024, that the country’s currency appreciated to N1,572.82 per USD from an average of N1,600 per USD.

Recall that both unions began the industrial action on Monday as they pressed for the payment of their salaries.

The NCC Director of Public Affairs, Rueben Muoka, said that services have now been restored to approximately 90% of their peak utilisation capacities.

According to EFCC, the requested data would help the commission complete its investigation.

MainOne said partial service has been restored to some customers affected by the undersea cable cut. 

Although the launch was scheduled to be held today, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, Akintunde Sawyer, said the loan scheme was postponed due to some corrections that were being made around the launch.

The decision to embark on a warning strike was part of the resolution of the Joint Action Committee of the two Unions.
