The Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder was widely criticised by some Nigerian supporters for his display at the competition after the 2-1 defeat at the finals against Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles camp in Morocco received six players (Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Frank Onyeka, Francis Uzoho, Chidozie Awaziem, and Bright Osayi-Samuel) in the team’s camp on Wednesday, taking the arrivals to 22 players.

The two rivals will clash at the Grande Stade de Marrakech on Friday, which would be both teams' first game since the 2023 AFCON tournament that took place in Ivory Coast earlier this year.

More are expected to arrive at camp today, except for Victor Osimhen and Taiwo Awoniyi, who are out due to injury as they are scheduled to have their first training session at 4:30 pm local time.

The lethal 25-year-old Napoli striker was named on the bench in a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan on Saturday but didn’t feature in the game at San Siro.

The Eagles were initially scheduled to face Argentina and El Salvador in the United States, but the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) cancelled those friendlies due to logistic issues.

The eight teams consist of three teams from Spain (Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Athletico Madrid), two England teams (Arsenal and Manchester City), two from Germany (Bayern Munich and Dortmund) and one from France (PSG).

The Bayer Leverkusen striker was initially named in Nigeria's final squad for the AFCON23 tournament in Ivory Coast but had to withdraw from the squad after suffering an injury to his groin as Terem Moffi was called to replace him.

Speaking after the game, the former Real Madrid defender admitted they tried to stop Odegaard, who provided the assist for Trossard’s goal.

According to the WBC, the match would be held after a possible rematch expected to take place later in the year between Fury and Usyk.
