WORLD CUP: Flying Eagles ends campaign after South Korea defeat

The Eagles gave the South Korean a tough fight as they came close to finding the back of the net at several times but the asian side held on and dragged the game to extra time where they were able to score the goal in the 95th minute that dropped the eagles.

THE U20 national football team of Nigeria, the Flying Eagles has ended its World Cup race as it fell to a 1-0 defeat to South Korea yesterday at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades in Argentina.

The Flying Eagles gave the South Korean a tough fight as they came close to finding the back of the net several times, but the Asian side held on and dragged the game to extra time where they were able to score the goal in the 95th minute that dropped the Eagles.

Despite the fall out, the Flying Eagles performed laudably through the competition which has captured the eyes of Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, who went on to commend the Flying Eagles' performance. 

“Heads up, Flying Eagles.What you have shown in this World Cup made Nigerians proud. You (Flying Eagles) fought till the end and earned a place among the top 8 teams in the World. "Peseiro wrote on Twitter.

Before their elimination, the Flying Eagles recorded a 2-0 wins against Italy at the group stage and a 2-0 win against hosts Argentina at the round of 16. 

The semi-finals will see Italy face South Korea, and Israel, face Uruguay.
