LIBERPOOL duo, Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah who are on a journey to win a quadruple, have been hinted by former Liverpool legend, Peter Crouch, as Ballon D or winners.
The two Liverpool stars met at the AFCON 2021 final with the prestigious African trophy going to Sadio Mane of Senegal defeating Mohammed Salah of Egypt after a penalty shoot out.
Liverpool legend, Peter Crouch, believes both players are deserving of the Ballon D Or award that could see either of them become the second African player to win the award.
“Mane’s a great shout,” the former England striker told Paddy Power as quoted by Mirror. He’s won the AFCON already, and if he goes on to win the Champions League, the Premier League and if Liverpool completes the quadruple then it would almost certainly have to go to a Liverpool player, and then [Mohamed] Salah and Mane are your standouts for it.”
To date, George Weah of Liberia is the only African player to have won the highly rated award since its inception, winning it in 1995.
