Former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino is reported to be awaiting a call from Real Madrid to take over Zinedine Zidane's position.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is under threat as he could lose his job should Madrid fail to make the knockout stage of the Champions League competition for the first time in history.

Real Madrid lost 2-0 to Shaktar Donetsk  on Tuesday night making it very difficult to qualify for the knockout stage.

Report has it that Pochettino would be his replacement should Zidane get sacked from the club.

Real Madrid are not the only one interested in the Argentine, as Manchester United have him on their radar also should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fail to deliver for the Red devils.

Speaking on returning to management Pochettino told Sky Sport he is not going to close any door.

"I’m not going to close any door. I learnt when I was really, really young, Jorge Griffa (Pochettino's former coach) would say, 'Mauricio, football is going to dictate your way'. And I am waiting to feel what is the right project for us, which is the right way to take.

"Of course, we are living in a very crazy situation, a crazy moment in our life that we never expected. And of course, all is completely different, not only football."
