Nigerian athlete sent to prison for alleged rape in USA

A Nigerian long and triple jumper, Emmanuel Ineh, has been arrested and sent to jail pending investigation for rape-related issues by the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department in the USA.

According to reports, the athlete, who is a former student of the University of Alabama, was arrested for multiple sexual assaults in Tuscaloosa and has been charged with 1st-degree rape.

“Emmanuel Ineh is charged with rape, 1st degree, after an alleged victim came forward. Police say another victim from years earlier has since come forward, and they believe there may be others," a media report states.

Ineh and the other athletes were scheduled to be sentenced in February with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, but Ineh's sentencing was delayed at the request of his attorneys.
