Luka Modric signs one year extension with Madrid

La liga club Real Madrid has announced that Luka Modric has  signed a one-year contract extension to keep him with the club until June 2023.

The 36 years old midfielder began his career with Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Tottenham Hotspurs in 2008 and then moved to the Bernabeu side in 2012 scoring 31 goals in 436 appearances for the  European champions.

 "Real Madrid C. F. and Luka Modrić have reached an agreement to extend the player's contract until 30 June 2023" a post on Real Madrid official Instagram account read.

Since joining Madrid, Modric has gone ahead to win the LaLiga title on three occasions, three UEFA Super Cups, four FIFA Club World Cups and one Copa del Rey.

He also joined the list of Real Madrid players to have won the prestigious france football award The Ballon D Or when he won the Ballon d'Or in 2018 after helping his country reach the World Cup final, where they were beaten by France.
