NIGERIAN football stars Ademola Lookman and Asisiat Oshoala, as well as William Troost-Ekong and Paul Onuachu, have been nominated for the Best FIFA Awards 2024.
Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala is nominated for the FIFA Marta Award, which is a newly introduced award for the Best Goal of the Year.
Ademola Lookman, who won the Europa League with Atalanta, is nominated in the Best Attacker category at the FIFA awards.
The 27-year-old, who finished 14th in the Ballon d’Or ranking is also the favourites to win the CAF Men’s Player of the Year.
Captain Troost-Ekong is in contention for the Best Defender award. The defender won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire early this year.
30-year-old Onuachu is in the running for the Puskas Award, which recognises the Best Goal for the Year. His goal for Trabzonspor against Konyaspor in the 2023-24 Super Lig on November 10, 2023 was shortlisted.
