KALIDOU Koulibaly, a new signing by the English club, Chelsea has asked former Chelsea captain and football legend, John Terry for his No. 26 shirt number.

The former club captain, John Terry had worn the number throughout his 19-year career with the club, during which he won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups and a Champions League title with the club.

John Terry had received a 26-minute guard of honour during his last game at the club, which led to the retirement of the shirt number in 2017.

Following the signing of Koulibaly from Napoli, the player was set to inherit the No. 26 shirt after he placed a call to Terry requesting his permission to wear the number.

Koulibaly  asked if he could use the No.26 shirt which he  used at Napoli, to which Terry replied:

"The 26 was very special to me, I really appreciate your calling. It’s no problem for me for you to take it, an absolute pleasure. I wish you well because I know how important the number was for me and I’ve seen you wear 26 as well. My pleasure mate, I give you."
