"I was close to playing for Nigeria", says Saka

ARSENAL and England star Bukayo Saka who was on a trip to a trip to Nigeria has revealed that he was close to playing for the national youth team before he eventually picked England.

ARSENAL and England star Bukayo Saka who recently visited Nigeria and paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu, has revealed that he was close to playing for the national youth team before eventually choosing to play for England.

According to the 21 years old winger, he could have easily been in the national team as his father really wanted him to, but eventually ended up at the England national team where he has been a regular player.

As first reported by OwnGoalNigeria, Bukayo Saka said, "I will tell you this; I was very close to playing for one of the youth teams in 2019. 

"It was the wish of my father, but things happen and you have to live with your decisions. I feel very much Nigerian and nothing can change that."

Saka who his still in Nigeria payed a visit to various orphanages in Lagos, as well as having a meeting with the Lagos state governor, Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu who is said to be an ardent fan of Arsenal football club.

Reports have also suggested that Saka, who recorded over twenty five goals and assists this season for Arsenal, also touch Aso Rock to pay a courtesy visit to the  newly elected President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
