SUPER Eagles of Nigeria and Everton player, Alex Iwobi believes that the team ran out of luck against Guinea Bissau after creating many goal-scoring chances.

The Super Eagles took a 1-0 defeat in yesterday's game against Guinea Bissau, despite having the best line-up and creating more chances, as Iwobi was in the centre of creating the chances.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria couldn’t convert the chances into goals as the crosses into the box were mostly overhit, shots blocked, and headings were off-target or easy for the opposing goalkeeper to grab.

Reacting after the end of the game, Alex Iwobi, who was selected to respond to reporters, said, "To start with, everybody is scoring goals in their clubs. Like the coach said we created many chances today, Guinea probably had like three.

"If you check the stats, we had opportunities to score, it's one of those days we didn't score. We could have played as many hours and it's just one of those days we had bad luck but I'm sure if we play them again, luck will be on our side. We created so many chances, and just luck wasn't for us today."

The Super Eagles will have to dig deeper should they want to win the second leg of the game against Bissau on Monday, March 27, 2023.
