HALE End Academy product of Nigerian descent, Folarin Balogun, has explained why he decided to leave the Premier League for a 1-year loan at France Ligue1 with Reims.

According to the 21-year-old, the decision came after he failed to make an appearance for the Arsenal side during their United States tour in July 2023.

He would later have a chat with Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta on what was best for him in his career.

"Last summer, I went on tour with the first team to America. And I didn't get any playing time out there, so I was a bit frustrated.

"It's one of my dreams to just play in the first team. I had to be realistic at the same time. I spoke to Mikel (Arteta), and he gave me a few options, and together, we decided it'd be best for me to come to France," Balogun said, as quoted on Arsenal's official website.

Balogun is having a good time in France, as the player has scored sixteen goals in twenty-six appearances for Stade de Reims this season.

The player still has a contract with Arsenal that keeps him at the Emirate stadium till the end of the 2024/25 season.
