THE January transfer window is set to close in the next one week with teams hoping to close deals that could help bolster their sqaud strength.

Arsenal have been quite busy this period as they have been linked with Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic as well as Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo but have failed to reach an agreement with them.

Speaking in a post match interview after the goalless draw against Burnley, Mikel Arteta gave an update on the pursuit of both players:

“We are certainly trying, but I don’t know if we will be able to do it, it’s not only our intention, but a lot of facts need to happen,” Arteta said

“The market is difficult and complicated. It’s a lot of money and we need to make the right decisions with the players that we believe are going to really help us and take us to the next level.”, the Arsenal boss added.

Arthur has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal but Juventus have refused to let go of him till they can find a replacement while Vlahovic wants to remain with Fiorentina and wait till the end of the season before picking a new club.
