Arsenal capitalise to beat Fulham in EPL season opener

Arsenal have begun their Premier League campaign in a comfortable 3-0 victory over newly promoted Fulham.

Arsenal have begun their Premier League campaign in a comfortable 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Fulham.  Alexandre Lacazette, new signing Gabriel and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were greatly instrumental in the opening game of the season on Saturday.

The newcomers, Willian and Gabriel debuted impressively for the Gunners as Willian made three assists on first appearance and Gabriel found the net to set Arsenal on a crusing start.

In the eighth minute, Lacazette scored the season's opening goal as the homeside's defence was at sixes and sevens, before 22-year old Brazilian defender Gabriel, who joined Arsenal from Ligue 1 side Lille, doubled the lead in the 49th with a close-range header.

With a beautiful Willian cross, Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang  was able to seal the deal with a superb shot into the top corner in the 57th minute to give the homeside no chances to fight back.

Willian's delightful pass from the midfield found Aubameyang on the left flank and the Gabonese striker cut inside to curl a rasping shot from inside the penalty area past Marek Rodak, who was left clutching thin air.

The home keeper then did well to block a shot from point-blank range by Aubameyang, who had another effort cleared off the line by a defender in the dying minutes.

Even at 3-0 down, Fulham were barely able to break out of their own half with their midfield chasing shadows and a porous defence all at sea whenever Arsenal went forward.
